Fun is not a four letter word

Fun is Not a Four-Letter Word

Have you known people whose lives looked as though they thought Fun was a four-letter word?  I have. In fact, I have that tendency.   Fun comes after work is done, but you know what happens, don’t you?! Work is never done!  So fun gets postponed since it’s not productive, right?… Wrong!

Studies show that incorporating fun actually:  increases creativity;  improves concentration, and perseverence;  can create a bond between co-workers;  increases productivity; relieves stress.

Some long-term benefits of laughter are:  immune system improvements, pain relief, and mood lifting. There is a lot of information about this subject on the internet if you’re interested in reading more.

Science is catching up with what God has said in His Word.

Ps. 2:4, “He who sits in the heavens laughs;..”

“Sarah said, ‘God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me’” Genesis 21:6.

“A cheerful heart is good medicine…” Prov. 17:22

“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.”  Job 8:21

Ecclesiastes 3: 1, 4, ” For everything there is a season…..  at time to laugh…..”

Luke 10:21, “…He (Jesus) rejoiced and gloried in the Holy Spirit…”  At the very least, He was smiling!

Luke 6:21b, “… Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.”

Luke 6:23, “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!”

The word blessed means:  enjoying, enviable happiness, spiritually prosperous with life-joy–possessing the happiness produced by the experience of God’s favor, and especially conditioned by the revelation of His grace, and satisfaction in God’s favor, and salvation regardless of one’s outward conditions;  to speak well of.

Your salvation is to be enjoyed!   You have the favor of God to enjoy!  You were created to have relationship with God and enjoy Him, not serve Him, not work hard for Him, not to do anything for Him.

He came to serve us, so we can then share what we’ve received from Him with one another to encourage, strengthen, and build people up.  Christ IN you= your LIFE;  your Hope of Glory. (Col. 1:27)

Glory is God’s opinion determining the value of something (you!), and His favorable opinion is true glory!

Revelation 4:11, “Worthy, Oh Master!  Yes, our God! Take the Glory!  the honor! the power!  You created it all;  It was created because You wanted it.”  Why were we created? Simply because He wanted us.  He desires having a relationship with us.  He loves us–in fact, He loved us first!  Without receiving His Love–His kind of Love–we have none to give back.

We were the joy set before Jesus when He was dying on the cross!  ( see Heb.12:2)

God wants us to enjoy our lives;  to live as overcomers;  to live from victory to victory.
We are His Joy!

An old covenant verse that is speaking, prophetically,  of our new covenant relationship with God through Jesus,  is  Zephaniah 3:17, ~from the Amplified version of the Bible:

“The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy;  He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make NO mention [of past sins, or even recall them];  he will exult over you with singing.”

With God, everything He does is “exceedingly, abundantly,” meaning it’s beyond our wildest imaginations!  I imagine God’s celebration including lots of laughter and dancing!  He is not inhibited.

Jesus was full of gladness!  In John 17:13, He prayed:
“And now I am coming to You;  I say these things while I am still in the world, so that my joy may be made full and complete and perfect in them [that they may experience My delight fulfilled in them, that My enjoyment may be perfected in their own souls (mind, will emotions), that they may have My gladness within them, filling their hearts.”

He died so we could receive HIS Life, and yes,  fun is included.  He delights  in us.
Delight:  pleasure, happiness, joy, glee, gladness, enchant, captivate, thrill, entertain, entrance, amusement, excitement, bliss, rapture, elation, euphoria.  God is as delighted in you as He is in Jesus!
Something awesome to let your mind meditate on!

The Sons of God are led by the Spirit of God, not by purpose or to-do lists.  Until I heard the Gospel of Grace, I didn’t have this understanding.  I’d always been a  strict, planner Girl.  God taught me to listen to Him about what to do, and when. He taught me to see them as if they were  set in jello.  That way, HE was free to rearrange things without me going into shock!  He desires fun to be incorporated in my daily life. Actually, He’s been reminding me to do this, because I can get busy and forget.

Living as He leads is Joyful, and Peaceful. I can trust He sees the bigger picture that I cannot see.

He will never, ever be disappointed in you!  He’s not counting on YOU.  He simply invites each of us to cooperate with what HE is doing, and not the other way around.  When we do things the way He designs, you can be very busy, but it won’t be heavy.  We add cares, or fears, and so forth and then it becomes heavy!

If you’re feeling stressed, or overwhelmed. STOP!  Get up, and do something just for the fun of it, for it’s not a four-letter word.  There is nothing to feel guilty about!  I bet you will find yourself actually getting more done because of some of those health benefits I listed above.  Don’t you love it when science catches up with what God said thousands of years ago?!

What do you like to do for fun?  I hope you’ll tell us about it here.
