Identity TheftDoesn't Have to Happen to You! (2)

Identity Theft Doesn’t Have to Happen to You

In 2012, Mike and I experienced identity theft about three times.  This year, someone had assumed our identity with the IRS and got our income tax refund!  Time was spent on straightening out these situations that “shouldn’t” have happened. We were delayed in receiving our income tax refund by several months, while the one posing as us received what was rightfully ours, right away.  Identity theft has become a real problem in the world.  Perhaps you’ve been affected by this as well.

We felt violated, cheated, and vulnerable, just to name a few emotions that were swirling at these times.  The burden of proof was on us.  We felt like WE were suspect, like we were “guilty until proven innocent,” –not a fun experience, though it all ended well.  It just took some time.  Sadly, some cases end up very badly as systems in this world are imperfect.

Have you ever considered that the enemy of our souls is the original “identity thief?”  He tempts us to doubt, and then leads us to deny.

He causes us to doubt what God has told us whether it be from what is contained in the Bible, the written word of God, or from revelation that God has given to our heart.  His first question to Eve, in the garden, was “Did God really say,..” and then misquoted what God had really said, in Genesis 3:1.

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God, indeed,  said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”  Gen. 3:1, NKJV

Eve told him what God had really said, “…We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;  but of the fruit of tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” Gen. 3:2-3, NKJV

Satan didn’t skip a beat:  In the very next verse, he flat out lied to Eve. He told her, “You will not surely die.” Then He went on to plant doubts in Eve about God’s integrity.  .

“For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Gen.3:5, NKJV   He’s implying that God is holding out on you. He can’t be trusted. He really doesn’t have your best interest at heart.  You lack something!!  Thinking she would become wise, she believed the lies and did contrary to what God had told her, then convinced her husband to do the same thing.

After Jesus’ baptism, He was led into the desert where He spent 40 days and nights without food, and drink.  Satan tempted Him twice by stirring up doubt about His true identity to manipulate Jesus to prove something by saying, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.

Then a few verses later, satan spoke to Him and said, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down....(see Matt. 4:1-11)

There is nothing new under the sun.  Satan cannot create, only duplicate.  His arguments and accusations never change.

If He came at JESUS, Who Scripture says, “created all things yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live, ”  (see also: 1 Cor. 8:6; see also:  John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; )  then we should not be surprised that He comes at Believers in God through Jesus Christ with the very. same. accusations.

A nickname for satan is “the accuser of the brethren.”  He will always tempt you to look at your behaviors with the goal of you allowing those behaviors to define you!  When you do, then you have lost sight of your real New Covenant identity, and then more assaults come.

It is vital that you know Who you are in Christ beyond head knowledge! Mike and I don’t want you to be unaware! What you don’t know in your heart does, indeed, affect you.  The great news is that you don’t have to be uninformed! When you’re not certain of your new identity in Christ, you can’t stand firmly, resisting the lobs from the adversary no matter who may be speaking against you, or from what you hear in your own mind/or heart.

We have a free tool we created so that you can begin learning who you are in Christ, or to use as a reminder of who you are. You are an heir of The Most High God!  You have rights and privileges as His heir.  If you received and inheritance from one of your relatives, it would do you absolutely no good if you 1.) didn’t know you have an inheritance coming to you, or 2.) if you didn’t receive it, and cash the check!

We want you to receive the information as our gift.  Spend some time meditating on the Word so that God can get Truth from your head, as information, down into your heart as revelation!  Revelation that is rooted in your heart is what faith or belief is. From what you truly believe in your heart come the choices you make that direct your life.

When you have your identity in Christ settled and in your heart, you’ll begin living more and more from victory rather than “striving to get” victory.  In time, the attacks that come against you that are designed to challenge your new identity–the true you–will fall on deaf ears. They’ll not even phase you. That is true victory and freedom; something to celebrate! Your free gift is waiting for you here.
