SAFEHOME, the book

August 19, 2013

Meet the Author

Mike Stephens, and his wife, Vanetta, have three adult children–each married.  Two grandchildren were born the fall of 2013, and their third is due in August of 2014.  In addition to working as a pharmacist for more than 30 years, he has recently fulfilled his dream of becoming an author.  His first book,  SafeHome, has just been published.  Both Mike, and  Vanetta are  passionate about people experiencing Christ’s Life, powerfully, in smaller-sized, more intimate, and “safe” settings!

The stories of forgiveness and restoration that take place through relationships formed in small group settings are woven throughout this book.

The events that take place in this book parallel his and his family’s own life experiences, and personal journey with God though some details have been changed, and no single character represents anyone they personally know.

Mike’s desire is that you, the reader, take from the book what you are able to receive that could impact your life for experiencing greater freedom, and victories on a whole new level.  Most of all, may you be encouraged to be a part of, or to step out in forming a small group for the benefit and joy of helping others grow in their new life in Christ.  Those you help may feel led to lead their own group one day, thus enabling the Gospel of Grace to spread practically effortlessly around the world.

 SafeHome

What some readers are saying:

“I believe that Mike did a wonderful job in writing SafeHome.  He was able to draw me into the despair and anguish that both parents felt through the accident.  It was not hard to put myself in their place.

Seeing God work through the love and counsel that both couples found in their home group meetings was very exciting.  To partake in the prayers, and teaching of identity truths and authority was great.  Then to see these truths actually lived out in extending, and receiving forgiveness was emotionally powerful for me.

I believe this book is unique in that it is fictional, but it contains biblical truths that can change lives eternally.”

~Mike B., Phoenix, AZ, USA

Ed P., from Glendale, AZ, USA, called us to say that he enjoyed the book.  He also added that it brought up the point that “going it alone” was never God’s intention.  Everyone needs a support system–a group of people who value you, encourage you, pray for you, and are just supportive, in general.  This was something he hadn’t been aware he needed until he read this book.
*Editor’s note*:  Since he shared this, he has found a community of people who love him, and with whom he is enjoying spending his time.  He is both receiving and giving joy, encouragement, tangible expressions of love!  What a difference wholesome relationships can make in one’s life!

I found this book to be an inspiration. Though it was fiction I found it to be very much true to life.
