We Are Ambassadors

in Peace, You have Authority

We are ambassadors

We Are Ambassadors

“So we are ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We (as Christ’s personal representatives) beg you to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you], and be reconciled to God.” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:20.

What is an “ambassador?”

An ambassador is one who is a messenger and representative.  He doesn’t act on his own authority.  He communicates what He’s been told to say.   God is speaking, today, through the voice of people.

We’ve been given the Message of Reconciliation to share with people who feel alienated for any reason. People who receive the Truth that God, in Christ, is their security.  It’s through His death, and by Jesus’ blood.  When received by faith–having had their heart persuaded by hearing the Good News–they can then experience True Peace:  The Peace of God, and can boldly approach God anytime they want.

We have a personal God who desires relationship with us, not acts of service or penance of any kind.

One day, quite some time ago, I was meditating on the thought of being an ambassador.  I believe God downloaded these thoughts into my heart.  I share them here for your consideration.  Let God show you what is for you, or set it aside.  It’s your choice.

He led me to look up the word ambassador in Webster’s Dictionary, which says::

1.  an official envoy; esp: a diplomatic agent of the highest rank to a foreign government or sovereign as the resident representative of his own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment

2 a.  an authorized representative or messenger

b. an unofficial representative  <traveling abroad as ambassadors of goodwill>

As Believers, “we are citizens of Heaven…” it says in Philippians 3.

[The Father]  who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love;” ~Col. 1:13

We belong to another kingdom though we live on this earth.  We are not *of* this world.  We have already been seated with Christ, at the right hand of the Father, in heavenly places, according to Ephesians 2:6.  And, as Believers, The Kingdom is within us!

What do ambassadors do?  What privileges do they receive?
*
In this world, ambassadors work for peace.
*They are entrusted with power.
*Generally, they are afforded diplomatic immunity.
*They’re regarded as personal representatives of their country’s chief executive.
*Often, they are spokespeople on behalf of their country’s chief executive.
*When visitors from their country come to the host’s country, ambassadors are expected to protect the guests.
*Oftentimes, they are assigned to long terms in a host’s country which allows them to become quite familiar with the culture and language of the local people.  Gaining trust increases their effectiveness at accomplishing the desires of their host country.

In looking at the role of an ambassador, we can see some of the following Spiritual analogies::

At the birth of Jesus, angels proclaimed Peace, and Goodwill toward men! Jesus is our Peace and made Peace between God and mankind.  Now, we–who are ambassadors {we are not becoming ambassadors!}–have the privilege of sharing the truly Good News–the Gospel of Peace to those who have never truly heard.

Since we have received Christ’s Life, in us, we have the same authority He has.  We can speak Life anywhere we go and to any situation and expect that God will bring about the Fruit of His Life in every situation.

We have diplomatic immunity, as well.  We are not of this world, but living in it. We have become a whole new species!   Because of what Jesus accomplished for us, on the cross, we do not have to accept everything that comes at us.  Salvation includes things we need to experience while still in this world are healing/health, wholeness, deliverance, prosperity, Peace–nothing missing, nothing broken.

When symptoms try to convince you that you are sick, YOU have authority, because of Christ in you, to trump every symptom, and every fact with the TRUTH, and expect God’s Goodness to manifest. Faith–having had your heart persuaded that God is telling the Truth.  Seeing with faith-eyesight what exists in Jesus that is not yet visible to your natural eyesight or other natural senses is how you have hope–that confident expectation of experiencing His Goodness.

Did you know you have new DNA?  You are according to your NEW identity.  We are made in the image and likeness of God.  Everything true of Jesus is true of us, right now, in THIS world. We have a NEW Father so our family history is completely different!  Search the matter out for yourself, and live according to what you have Peace about.

We share what we believe God has put in our hearts to share.  We speak on His behalf.  As our minds are renewed by having had Jesus reveal Truth to our heart, the more, and more accurately we represent God, just as Jesus did while He was living on earth.  Transformation flows from the inside-out.

As we mentor people in our spheres of influence, we help equip them to overcome the trials of life.  We teach that Believers have the authority of God, and expect to enjoy God’s Goodness.  Looking at things through God’s New Covenant perspective is vital for experiencing the Fruit and Peace that comes from Christ living in them.

We’re very familiar with the culture, and language of the people of this world so that we can speak their language and build relationships of trust.  In time, as we simply live, and move, and have our being in Christ, and questions arise, we can share what Jesus has done for us, and for the whole world, giving them the opportunity to receive Christ’s Life for themselves, so they can experience His incredible Love, and eventually share it with others with whom they have relationships.

What an awesome privilege we have to get to be in a such a loving relationship with The Perfect Father, Who loves, and accepts us so completely!  As we simply live from our New Nature, enjoying Him, and letting what we do flow from who we are, people are going to notice.

Opportunities will arise for you to explain how you live in Peace in tough situations.  The ‘world’ is searching for peace, and substituting all kinds of things in place of the real thing–which is a Person. Jesus is our Peace! (Eph. 2:14).

You will get to share the reason for your Hope–your confident expectation of  God’s Goodness expressed in all kinds of ways. And it’ll be FUN!  It won’t be a chore when it’s natural for the way God created you.
